THE BARTENDER’S CURE PROMOTION

Motion Media

Project Brief

The Bartender’s Cure by Wesley Straton, is a coming of age novel. The book follows Samantha Fisher, a recent college graduate spending her gap year before grad school in New York where she learns about the bartending world. For this promotion I created an animation featuring a narrated expert from the book and a demonstration of one of its cocktail recipes.

Direction

The visual inspiration for the animation came from the cover of the book which utilized a neon sign effect. I replicated that effect aesthetically and through the motion of elements to mimic neon signs.

Samantha Fisher, a Columbia alumni who moves back to the New York City from San Francisco following a break up and break down to recharge before attending Harvard Law School. While crashing on her best friend’s couch she gets a job at Joe's Apothecary, a cozy neighborhood bar in Brooklyn.

As she explores the the New York bartending world, she questions whether law school is meant for her and must make a decision as to what she wants for her life.
